iWebKit 5.04
Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010iWebKit 5.01, 5.02 & 5.03
Friday, February 26th, 2010The last weeks some minor bugs were fixed and features were improved.
A big improvement with 5.03 is that there are no more display problems some of you have experienced on 3G/EDGE. just add media=”screen” to your css link!
We are working on a better RSS feed converter that is actually built into iWebKit but that comes in a later release!
Looking for new people!
Friday, January 22nd, 2010Hello iWebKit user,
We are looking for developers who what to help us with iWebKit and the website. We are also looking for bloggers and moderators and people who would like to help iwebkit’s marketing. We are finally working hard again on the next version of iWebKit, version 5.0.
As soon as it is ready we will e-mail some of the people that have contacted us. What you do then will determine if you are in our development team or not. Your task will be to add 1 or more features to iwebkit following certain basic rules:
-It needs to be very lightweight
-Use small or no images (use css3 gradient and shadows for example)
-Use limited amounts or no javascript, always try to find a css3 solution first!
-Be user friendly (the least amount of elements possible in the html code as iwebkit is structured right now)
If you can’t come up with a new feature wich is understandable you can also add simple improvements to boost load speeds or make the overal code simpler.
You can also send us links to projects and sites you have made. Your work and commitement will make the difference. If you are interrested send your CV and you motivation to contact@iwebkit.net and let us know why you want to be a part of iWebKit. Greetings,
Christopher plieger & Johan van Wilsum

Work in progress
Monday, January 18th, 2010Hi folks,
I’m happy to announce i’m back on the job. working on iWebKit right now and it’s already really getting along! Next version will see huge speed improvements like you have never seen, package will be a lot smaller and iphone 3.0 visual upgrades and overall support. I am probably going to remove some useless features or those not good enough to continue with. I’m just not good enough with javascript to continue them and i want to go back to iwebkit’s roots anyway.
Other frameworks are bloated and offer a lot of features. I want iwebkit to be as lightweight as possible for simple html or php sites.
You will hear from me soon probably. please post about this on your blog or forum if you want to support the projects!

A quick note
Friday, July 31st, 2009I am sorry if there havn’t been a lot of updates lately but i am just too busy to work on iwebkit. I am working at least 10 hours per day 7 days per week so right now i just do not have the energie for it. In a month i will have some vacation time and work on it.
I also ordered a new dell studio xps 16 and i am certain that will make we want to develop again
.
iPhone OS 3.0 is available!
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009As far as we know, iphone/ipod touch firmware 3.0 works with iWebkit’s basic features. We tested it with the latest firmware on both the iphone 3G and ipod Touch V1 and everything works fine except the popup! As soon as I have time I will try to address this issue. In the mean time If you’ve found another bug or some new features in mobile Safari, please tell us through our forums.

iWebKit 4.6.2 is ready
Sunday, June 7th, 2009Yesterday I quickly released iwebkit version 4.6.2 fixing a huge javascript error on my part leading to problems withthe popup. Indeed when a page was used with a size over the window size of the iPod the black cover would not show and the popup would be cut of in fullscreen.
Instead of getting the document height the javascript got the window height.
The themepack also received a minor update adding a missing image for the list view. It does not change according to the theme so if you didn’t delete it you are fine.
Also iforum has been posted in the download section for those still wanting to give it a try.
Quick news
Monday, May 25th, 2009Hey there folks,
Here are some recent updates to the site and the kit:
- http://iwebkit.info is now fully useable as well as the .net extension
- changed blog.iwebkit.net to news.iwebkit.net
- changed m.iwebkit.net to demo.iwebkit.net
Redirects should be in place soon for the old adresses.
Also the new release of goodle chrome (2.0) has intergrated a newer version of the webkit engine and can now fully display iwebkit sites.
Now let’s hope the android based devices will also show the same level of support. I am confident they will.
