iWebKit 5.04
Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010iWebKit 5.01, 5.02 & 5.03
Friday, February 26th, 2010The last weeks some minor bugs were fixed and features were improved.
A big improvement with 5.03 is that there are no more display problems some of you have experienced on 3G/EDGE. just add media=”screen” to your css link!
We are working on a better RSS feed converter that is actually built into iWebKit but that comes in a later release!

Work in progress
Monday, January 18th, 2010Hi folks,
I’m happy to announce i’m back on the job. working on iWebKit right now and it’s already really getting along! Next version will see huge speed improvements like you have never seen, package will be a lot smaller and iphone 3.0 visual upgrades and overall support. I am probably going to remove some useless features or those not good enough to continue with. I’m just not good enough with javascript to continue them and i want to go back to iwebkit’s roots anyway.
Other frameworks are bloated and offer a lot of features. I want iwebkit to be as lightweight as possible for simple html or php sites.
You will hear from me soon probably. please post about this on your blog or forum if you want to support the projects!

iWebKit 4.6.2 is ready
Sunday, June 7th, 2009Yesterday I quickly released iwebkit version 4.6.2 fixing a huge javascript error on my part leading to problems withthe popup. Indeed when a page was used with a size over the window size of the iPod the black cover would not show and the popup would be cut of in fullscreen.
Instead of getting the document height the javascript got the window height.
The themepack also received a minor update adding a missing image for the list view. It does not change according to the theme so if you didn’t delete it you are fine.
Also iforum has been posted in the download section for those still wanting to give it a try.
mini update: iWebKit 4.6.1
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009Nothing really new here. Just some corrections to the user guide and demo files.
One exciting thing is that all the thumbnails are now viewable in any browser or graphic editor (finally). They have also been optimized so that the size of the pack has, again, reduced by 20Kb.
Thanks to The Grim Sultan on the iWebKit forum for the image fixes.
No need to update really besides including he new thumbnails and optionally updating your image folder.

iWebKit 4.5.3: UG fixed up a bit
Saturday, March 28th, 2009I recently noticed the User guide was completely kaput so I quickly grabbed my Adobe indesign and… it didn’t work anymore… I got some strange error message and even resetting settings or reinstalling the app didn’t work. So that already took a couple of hours.
Next I decided to simply install indesign on an older PC I have laying around. This time indesign started but for some awkward reason it didn’t work right with AMD processors. So I googled around and saw i simply had to download an update.
The only problem here was that I have no internet on my old desktop. So what I did is take my ipod touch, download PdaNet and voila I had freakin’ Wifi on my PC!!
So then i downloaded the indesign update and here is the newest version of iWebKit:
- Fixed bug where the background image in a store list would not appear
- Re-added the usefull info section that somehow got deleted
- Fixed the problem where the Music List paragraph was cut of and the form elements paragraph was in the middle of the 2 bits
- more warnings
- Added links in the UG so that when you click on a title in the summary you go to that page
- other random fixes i can’t remember
No update needed if you’re fine because this just changes the User guide
Enjoy.
iwebkit 4.5.2: perfection required!
Sunday, March 22nd, 2009iWebKit 4.5.1 had some small details i forgot to work away. They interfere in no way with your use of iwebkit but are mostly spelling errors and other minor problems. The size of the pack has, again, reduced by 100kb (that’s 16% less) without the removal of any file.
In this release 2 things have changed
- The footer on the pages has changed and now says “powered by iwebkit”. This simply is shorther and smaller to make it less noticable on your site. I hope all of the iwebkit site owners agree to keep/change/add that line on their site for 3 reasons: it helps us, it thanks us, it’s uber cool to show you use the powerfull iwebkit.
- Secondly, Jorge has mailed me again sending me an even better version of the javascript to reduce interference between your and iwebkit’s javascript. I’ve wrapped it all in a single iWebkit global object. The only thing that you’ve got to take care is that popup has become iWebkit.popup, closepopup has become iWebkit.closepopup. The var(s) checkboxHeight, etc can still be accessed from everywhere as iWebkit.checkboxHeight, etc.
In the process, the “Custom” object is now gone. Its properties are now attached to iWebkit too. Note that functions are objects in javascript, and therefore you can attach properties and methods to them. iWebkit is defined as a function-object, in fact, in the file that I’m sending you.
As you have read just above in the quote from jorge you have to change a little bit of your code if you are using the popup. change onclick=”popup” to onclick=”iWebkit.popup()” and onclick”closepopup() to onclick=”iWebkit.closepopup()”
